Winnipeg to Falcon Lake
Manitoba | 136km
Today begins with some shopping and dreaming at Winnipeg Harley-Davidson. When itâs time for kickstands-up, head east on Highway 1 and your navigating tasks are basically done for the day. Youâll follow the highway through rolling farmland all the way to the shores of Falcon Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park.
Of course, there are sights to see along the way. About 15 minutes into your journey, pause at Centre of Canada Park for a photo opportunity with a large sign marking the exact geographic centre of Canada.
Carry on to Richer, where youâll find the Musée Dawson Trail Museum, housed in a Romanesque-style church built in 1913 along the old Dawson trail that first connected the Prairies to Eastern Canada. Thereâs even more history to explore at the Midwinter Heritage Site in East Braintree.
A day at the beach
Falcon Lake has some of Manitobaâs best fishing, as well as a pleasant beach. To give your legs a good stretch, head to the 3.5km loop Top of the World hiking trail for stunning Cliffside views over the lake. Or, trade your iron horse for the four-legged variety with a day of adventure at Falcon Beach Ranch.
