The Big Loop, Muskoka
Ontario | 886 km
This lengthy ride offers the ultimate in Ontario touring just north of Toronto through cottage country and the Canadian Shield. The Big Loop is actually made up of two loops that intersect in the middle, taking you from the heart of Muskoka to Parry Sound, along the coast of Georgian Bay, through the Almaguin Highlands and into the splendour of the lone twisting road through Algonquin Park. Along the way, youâll ride through woodlands, past charming small towns, and alongside more lakes than you can count.
With so much to see and do along this route, allow two to three days to make the most of the ride: it is cottage country, after all. Georgian Bay and Algonquin Park are both well worthy of multiple stops for photos, or just to enjoy the stunning scenery. This is a breathtaking route sure to leave a lasting impression.
A walk in the park
Established in 1893, Algonquin Park is Canadaâs oldest provincial park. With more than 2,400 lakes and 1,200km of streams and rivers within its boundaries, this National Historic Site is an important location for wildlife research.
