Gothic Route
Slovakia, 297km
The Gothic Route is a near-300km long loop which passes through nine towns and many rural communes in Slovakia. The route is a motorcyclist’s dream, running through the spectacular landscapes of the High Tatras mountains, protected UNESCO World Heritage sites, caves and abysses, biosphere reserves and national parks.
As well as the country’s natural beauty, this route is designed to take in Slovakia’s cultural heritage. Highlights include several important monuments along the ride, such as the Basilica of St James in Levoča (the town itself is a cultural and architectural jewel, with a huge range of monuments around its central square), Spiš Castle, the Church of the Holy Spirit in Žehra, the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Chyžné, Krásna Hôrka Castle and the Betliar Museum.
