Cultural Night Charity Ride in Iceland!

Iceland chapter’s annual charity event has been offering people the chance to ride the city streets with them for a good cause

For the past 20 years, H.O.G.^® Chapter Iceland has organized a charity ride on Cultural Night, a special event held annually in late August in Reykjavík. The charity ride began when a few chapter members decided to launch a small fundraising initiative: they offered to ride friends around the capital for a nominal fee, donating the money raised to Umhyggja, an organisation that supports chronically ill children and their families. Umhyggja relies entirely on donations to fund its vital work.

“Over the years, the charity ride has grown significantly. Today, our chapter sets up a base station in front of the Icelandic Parliament, where tents with extra helmets and promotional materials are available,” says Iceland Chapter Director, Birkir Rafn Jónsson. “Around 12 to 15 of our members gather there with their Harley-Davidson^® motorcycles, offering people the chance to enjoy a short ride through downtown Reykjavík.”

A few years ago, a new tradition was born: the chapter director now takes the first ride of the event with the director of Umhyggja. The event has become one of the chapter’s calendar highlights each year, bringing people of all ages together to enjoy the experience of riding a Harley^®. Some guests return year after year, enjoying the thrill of the rumbling engines, while others take the opportunity to ride for the first time.

“It’s a day of fun, excitement, and generosity, where every ride helps support those in need,” adds Birkir. “Whether they’re regular participants or newcomers, the riders share the joy of giving back to the community while experiencing the thrill of a Harley ride in the heart of Reykjavík. What’s not to love?”
