There\u2019s no better time to reconnect with riders from the past and follow in their footsteps along Route 66 in its centenary year. Few routes can claim the iconic status of the Mother Road, which draws riders from around the world to explore the historic highway on two wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the selection of routes for the 15 Rides for \u201926 challenge, several are closely tied to Route 66 \u2014 easily identifiable by the Route 66 logo in the ride description in your Benefits Guide. It\u2019s the perfect time to ride this incredible road, celebrating its 100th<\/sup> birthday and ticking off some check-in locations along the way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ride #2: Route 66 \u2014 End of the Trail<\/a>
Santa Monica, CA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow the path taken by many hopeful travelers \u2014 from those seeking fame and fortune in the Golden State, to others desperately fleeing the Dust Bowl disaster of the 1930s, as well as plenty of more recent tourists and enthusiasts. This stop is traditionally the end of the trail; but it could be the beginning if you choose to ride from west to east.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ride #4: Gemini Giant<\/a>
Wilmington, IL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It shouldn\u2019t be hard to spot this 30-foot-tall, rocket-cradling, green spacesuit-wearing giant \u2014 and the nearby Launching Pad Gift Shop makes the perfect stop for some souvenirs. This particular statue dates back to 1965 and began his life standing outside the local Launching Pad Restaurant before being relocated in 2024 to South Island Park when the restaurant closed its doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ride #7: Uranus Town Center<\/a>
St. Robert, MO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the most unusual point of note about this stop is that the location is fictional! The town of Uranus, Missouri, doesn\u2019t exist. It\u2019s a fun piece of marketing for the very real town of St. Robert and doesn\u2019t take itself too seriously. Look out for businesses with pun\u2011filled names, and be sure to check in at the water tower for this challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ride #10: Blue Whale of Catoosa<\/a><\/strong>
Catoosa, OK<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This grinning sculpture can\u2019t help but bring a smile to the faces of onlookers. The landmark has recently undergone renovations to make sure it\u2019s looking its best for the Route 66 centennial and is ready to smile at new visitors this riding season. The reopening will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting on May 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ride #12: Cadillac Ranch<\/a><\/strong>
Amarillo, TX<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Come rain or shine, this stop will add a splash of color to your ride. The line of 10 vintage Cadillacs forms the basis of a graffiti installation, which is ever-evolving in appearance \u2014 spray painting these vehicles is actively encouraged. Why not add some color of your own while you\u2019re there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
