The Silent Route
Spain, 60km
The scenic route of the A-1702 winds for 60km through the Maestrazgo, showcasing some of the most rugged and beautiful landscapes of Teruel province and passing through multiple historic villages. The route extends from Gargallo in the north to Cantavieja in the south, before reaching the village at the Puerto de Cuarto Pelado.
The four essential rides offered by The Silent Route are the Caleja del Huergo, Estrechos de Valloré, Nacimiento del río Pitarque and the viewpoint of the Órganos de Montoro – the latter two have been declared natural monuments. All along the route are fantastic opportunities to experience the local gastronomy, which is famed throughout the region.
Animal magic
Silencioso is the viewpoint of the high Maestrazgo. It’s better known as the viewpoint of the goat due to a mountain goat named Silencioso in the logo of the route.
Bus stop
El Caimán rest area is marked by a reproduction of an old bus known as El Caimán that travelled daily between Cantavieja and Alcorisa.
