Euganean Hills and Padua

Italy, 130km

This route begins by exploring the Euganean Hills, a national park comprising 81 volcanic peaks celebrated for their stunning scenery and hot springs. There’s plenty to enjoy on the ride itself as you navigate a succession of ups, downs and gentle curves.

There are several highlights along the route, including Valbona Castle, which boasts remarkably intact 13th century military architecture, and Praglia Abbey, which is still home to one of the largest communities of Benedictine monks in Italy.

Your descent from the hills takes you back to Padua, a classic Italian city that is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the world’s oldest botanical garden, and 14th century fresco cycles, including one in the centrally located Scrovegni Chapel.

Flying high
The pretty gardens and 14th century tower make San Pelagio Castle and Air and Space Museum a picturesque pit stop, and its aeronautical history is fascinating!

Into the spirit
Luxardo is one of the oldest distilleries producing liqueurs and spirits in Europe. There’s also gin, amaretto and limoncello on offer.
