North Cape, Norway and Sweden, 2,400km

Majestic waterfalls, deep fjords, glaciers, mountainous hairpin roads – the roads leading to Norway’s North Cape are among the most spectacular to be found anywhere in the world, and that is especially true from the seat of a Harley-Davidson^®. The road to Europe’s northernmost point takes the rider to the land of the midnight sun, within the Arctic Circle, one of the most challenging and rewarding rides it is possible to do in Europe.

This tour starts and ends in Ballangen, Norway, and takes in the best scenery Norway has to offer, including North Cape, Europe’s northernmost point – a bucket-list trip by itself. The tour also takes in the mountains, forest and lakes of Sweden, including the popular destination of Jukkasjärvi, with its famous Icehotel.

This circular tour covers 2,400km so is a multi-day endeavour, especially when time to admire the scenery is taken into consideration – and there is plenty to draw the attention, from the Arctic fishing town of Vadsø to Tromsø, heart of the Sámi culture. The weather can be highly variable between snow and sun so dress accordingly; between June and August is the best time.

The Green Lady
North Cape is the end terminus of the E69 road and just 2,000km from the North Pole. Stop for an image by the famous memorial; if you are lucky you may get to see the ‘Green Lady’ – the Northern Lights. If you are seeking bragging rights, Europe’s actual northernmost point is Knivskjellodden about a mile further north.

Caution: caribou
Don’t miss the colourful fishing villages in the stark, barren landscape on the way to North Cape, including Skarsvåg, the world’s northernmost fishing village. Look out for reindeer along the road…
