Continu\u00f3 cosechando \u00e9xitos en pruebas de distancia, consiguiendo 1000 valiosos puntos en el concurso anual de la Resistencia y Fiabilidad de la Federaci\u00f3n Americana de Motociclistas en 1908, y demostr\u00f3 la calidad de su motocicleta con un r\u00e9cord de econom\u00eda de 188,234 millas por gal\u00f3n (1,3 l a los 100 km) s\u00f3lo tres d\u00edas despu\u00e9s de su victoria en distancia recorrida. El equipo empez\u00f3 a realizar pruebas contrarreloj experimentales en Daytona Beach, estableciendo r\u00e9cords oficiales y extraoficiales. El 16 de febrero de 1920, Leslie &#8220;Red&#8221; Parkhurst recorri\u00f3 un kil\u00f3metro en 19,98 segundos y una milla en 32,45 segundos, alcanzando velocidades de 111 mph. Por aquel entonces, Joe Petrali estaba en la cresta de la ola y en 1932 se convirti\u00f3 en el primer piloto en la historia de la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Motociclistas (AMA) en conseguir los t\u00edtulos de campe\u00f3n nacional de dirt track y hill climb en el mismo a\u00f1o, una haza\u00f1a que repetir\u00eda en 1933, 1935 y 1936. En 1946, Harley-Davidson present\u00f3 uno de los mejores modelos para carreras de dirt track de su historia: la WR Flathead de 45 pulgadas c\u00fabicas. Ese mismo a\u00f1o, los pilotos H-D\u00ae ganaron 18 de los 24 campeonatos nacionales, estableciendo seis r\u00e9cords de competici\u00f3n en el proceso. En 1954, el piloto Joe Leonard gan\u00f3 el Gran Campeonato Nacional AMA con una Harley, y los pilotos H-D dominar\u00edan la competici\u00f3n durante los ocho a\u00f1os siguientes.
