The island \u2013 a UNESCO World Heritage Site \u2013 has a tumultuous history, but today it is one of the country\u2019s most popular holiday destinations, with charming hiking trails and dramatic volcanic landscapes to explore. It\u2019s also known for its delicious local cuisine, which makes much of the bountiful seafood available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This route follows the coast roads around the island.
