Taipei to Wuling

Taiwan | 233 km

Taiwan is a nature-lover’s dream, and this route showcases some of its finest scenery. Starting in the friendly and lively capital of Taipei – a street-food paradise – the route heads south-east away from the city and soon begins to take in a fantastic series of twists and turns as you make your way into the mountains.

After skirting the city of Yilan, the route turns to follow the course of the Lanyang River, before reaching the picturesque Wuling Farm, which is considered one of the best spots to view Taiwan’s famous cherry blossom during the spring. Take your time to soak up the spectacle before you rejoin the road and embark upon a final exhilarating stretch of hairpin bends leading to the Wuling viewpoint in Taroko National Park. Here, at the highest point of any highway in Taiwan, you’ll enjoy awe-inspiring views of Mount Hehuan and the surrounding peaks.

AUTUMN DELIGHTS
Taiwan may be known for its cherry blossom, but if you choose to visit later in the year you’ll be rewarded with the stunning oranges and reds of its maple leaves.

PLACES OF WORSHIP
There are thousands of beautifully ornate temples in Taiwan, catering to the Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian faiths.
