Nan Floating Road

Thailand | 68 km

Hwy 1081 Floating Road along Santisuk Road is one of the best motorcycling roads in Thailand as it’s a long winding road with an excellent surface, steep switchbacks, mountain vistas, and little traffic. Snaking through the mountains near the Laos border, the ride offers stunning views of the mountains, fields, and forests.

The road, also known as ‘Number 3’ due to its resemblance to the number at a certain viewpoint follows a path along a narrow hill, giving the illusion the road is floating among the clouds. Once the ride is complete, it’s worth spending some time in Nan City as it’s filled with sights, including the temples of Wat Phumin and Wat Chang, and the night market. If you enjoyed the 1081 Floating Road, there are two other spectacular ‘floating road’ rides in Nan, the 1256 Floating Road located along Pua Road to Boklua, and the 1148 Sky-High Road, located along Tawangpa Road to Phulangka.

A PATHWAY THROUGH THE TREES
One of the most popular photo ops in the city is the Plumeria Tunnel, a natural pathway through Frangipani trees.
