Mountains and medinas
Morocco, 893km
Morocco has an atmosphere like nowhere else, and this circular tour takes in the best of the northwest of the country. Begin in the port city of Casablanca and take the spectacular Atlantic coastal road to Tangier, at the very northern tip of the country where the Strait of Gibraltar separates Africa from Europe. Then it’s time to venture into the Rif Mountains to the country’s ‘Blue City’, Chefchaouen, famed for its maze of pastel blue buildings and steep cobbled lanes, before returning to Casablanca. Allow at least three days to soak up everything this incredible area has to offer.
Climbing high
Never mind the Atlas Mountains – the Rif Mountains are a motorcycle paradise of rugged terrain, twisting bends and spectacular vistas around every turn.
Touching base
Tangier, historically the home of artists, spies and smugglers, has much to see including the old medina and the Caves of Hercules.
