Mae Hong Son Loop

Thailand | 609 km

Sometimes referred to as the ‘4,000 curves’, the Mae Hong Son Loop in north-west Thailand covers 600km of spectacular mountain roads, misty passes, paddy fields and tropical jungle, beginning and ending in the tourist centre of Chiang Mai. Along the way you will pass hill tribe villages, caves, waterfalls and rugged wilderness – more than enough to make this a bucket-list ride.

The loop can be tackled in either direction – more experienced riders should head north from Chiang Mai towards Pai, while less experienced riders may find it better to ease into the ride by heading towards Mae Sariang.

REACH THE SUMMIT
Don’t miss the Doi Inthanon National Park and the ride to the top of its eponymous mountain – at 2,565 metres high, it’s Thailand’s highest peak.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Pai, Mae Hong Son and Mae Sariang are ideal locations to stop for a break or an overnight stay.
