Jeju Island Coastal Route
South Korea | 175 km
The beautiful island of Jeju is Korea’s largest, and boasts stunning beaches and turquoise waters. The island – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – has a tumultuous history, but today it is one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations, with charming hiking trails and dramatic volcanic landscapes to explore. It’s also known for its delicious local cuisine, which makes much of the bountiful seafood available.
This route follows the coast roads around the island. Take the ride at a leisurely pace and be prepared to stop often, as you’ll want to take in the many sights along the way, including the imposing Mount Halla – Korea’s tallest mountain.
TOP TIP
Take the road in an anti-clockwise direction, so that you’ll have the sea on your near side.
GOING UNDERGROUND
Be sure to take in Jeju’s magnificent lava tubes – these awe-inspiring volcanic formations are considered among the finest in the world.
