Border Crossing

Victoria, Australia | 125km

If you’re fond of corners, then the Bonang Road from Delegate in NSW to Orbost in Victoria is going to be your paradise on earth. The Bonang is endowed with 105 kilometres of non-stop corners stretching through remote but beautiful country with everything from lush grazing land to the temperate rainforests of the Errinundra National Park. There is a 13-kilometre section of well-maintained dirt road to negotiate at the NSW end and take note that there is no fuel available for the 125-kilometre stretch between Orbost and Delegate. While there’s a seemingly endless supply of natural wonders to admire, the only major township on the route is Delegate River which is not much more than a few buildings and a tavern.

History makers
Just outside of the historic town of Delegate is an early settlers hut. Typical of the type built when the town was founded in the 1940s, it has been restored using local timbers and now houses a variety of old artifacts, machinery, and information to take in.

The bigger picture
For those looking for more salubrious accommodation or better facilities than the small township of Delegate can provide, Bombala is the place for you. In addition to fuel, supermarkets, and restaurants, The Heritage Guest House offers affordable rooms, good food and great motorcyclist-friendly service.
