Berlin and Spreewald

Germany, 342km

Spreewald is a forested biosphere reserve located in Brandenburg, southeast of Berlin, and is famous for its landscape of rivers and more than 200 winding canals crossing meadows, forests and wetlands, with traditional villages unchanged for centuries. This gentle route takes in the most beautiful roads in Spreewald and encompasses traditional German villages, natural scenery and excellent roads and byways. Look out for the local cuisine, which is distinctive and heavily based around the famous Spreewald gherkins – there is even a museum dedicated to them.

Circular ramparts
Raddusch is the gateway to the Spreewald biosphere reserve and the ideal base for taking a river trip through the beautiful landscape of the region. It is best known for its reconstructed Slavic castle, Slawenburg Raddusch.

Palaces and parks
Historic buildings abound! Highlights include Chateau Sanssouci, Filmpark Babelsberg, Glienicker Bridge, New Palais, Orangerieschloss, Dutch Quarter, St. Nicholas’ Church, and the Museum Barberini in Potsdam.
