Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu
Malaysia | 463 km
This route takes you from the city to the sea, starting in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur and heading east to the powdery sands and lapping waves of Kuala Terengganu on Malaysia’s north-east coast. The route starts with the Karak Expressway out of Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan, then the South China Sea is your constant companion along Federal Route 2 and 3, with sections of the country roads running alongside lush coastal mangrove forests, timeless fishing villages where fisherman pull their boats ashore on the beaches and traditional stilted homes among groves of coconut trees.
PIT STOP
The small town of Bukit Tinggi along the Karak Expressway makes for an ideal stopping point on the journey, with its many highly rated restaurants luring visitors from Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highland.
LOCAL FLAVOURS
A ride in Malaysia would not be complete without sampling the famous durian fruits. Pahang State is famous for the creamy yellow Musang King durian but many other varieties such as Black Thorn, D24 and Red Prawn offer vastly different flavours and textures.
