Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru

Malaysia | 394 km

This route, which covers the southern part of Malaysia, is a perfect mix of urban and rural. Starting in the international hub of Kuala Lumpur, you’ll leave the city on the North South Expressway, which snakes its way south into the countryside. You’ll ride through lots of small villages with traditional ‘Kampung style’ Malay houses, plantations and farms.

Leaving the Expressway soon after entering the state of Melaka, the route heads towards the coast with a few twists and turns, before skirting the bustling and colourful state capital – although if you’ve got time on your hands, it’s well worth making a stop here. From this point onwards the road keeps close to the coastline, passing through numerous fishing villages before curving back inland to end in the border town of Johor Bahru, just a stone’s throw from Singapore.

ADRENALINE RUSH
Riding in the fast-paced city of Kuala Lumpur is not for the fainthearted, but you’ll be rewarded by its exhilarating mix of old and new – towering skyscrapers jostling for space alongside historical monuments, mosques and temples.

HERITAGE
Look out for the distinctive Minangkabau architecture in the state of Negeri Sembilan – particularly the traditional curved roof structures.
