Kakadu National Park
Northern Territory, Australia | 712km

The Northern Territory is a unique destination. On the one hand, you have Darwin’s rapidly expanding resort-style developments, while there is some truly remarkable nature on the doorstep. Yes, this is crocodile country! If you can tear yourself away from the excellent Mindil Beach Markets there’s some great riding to be had and the Kakadu National Park will not disappoint. Take the Stuart Highway south out of Darwin to Adelaide River, turning right onto the Dorat Road for some extra curves on your way to Pine Creek. From here you can continue to embrace the good quality roads, 130km/h speed limit, and the sweeping Harley®-friendly curves through the National Park to Jabiru and back to civilisation – stopping on a couple of bridges to do some cautious and respectful saltie-spotting.
Smile at a crocodile
If you ever wanted to see a croc in the wild then now’s your chance. Incorrectly named by explorers (and strangely never changed), the South Alligator Region is home to a mix of both saltwater and freshwater varieties. Guided tours can get you up close in safety.
Mindil magic
Bursting with life from every corner, the Mindil Beach Sunset Market is a combination of amazing food, live music, dance and culture. 200 unique stalls contribute to an electric atmosphere, all set against the backdrop of the spectacular Northern Territory sunset.
