Borden-Carleton to East Point

Prince Edward Island | 154km

This ride begins at the Gateway to P.E.I. in Borden-Carleton at the base of Confederation Bridge. You’ll ride through some of the most beautiful scenery Canada’s smallest province has to offer, with plenty of small coastal towns worthy of a stop for photos and refuelling of both body and bike.

Plan to stop in Charlottetown, the provincial capital, to stroll the colourful streets or head down to the boardwalk to watch the lobster boats come in.

Hop back in the saddle to carry on along the scenic Points East Coastal Drive to Saint Peters Bay. If you want to stretch your legs, take a detour to the impressive Greenwich Dunes in Prince Edward Island National Park. Then cut across the island to Fortune Bridge, where you’ll re-join the Coastal Drive. This final stretch of your ride is known for its white sand beaches and scenic lookout points. You’ll dismount in the easternmost point of PEI, appropriately named East Point.

Canada’s oldest operating lighthouse
East Point Lighthouse is sometimes called Confederation Lighthouse since it was built in the year of Canada’s confederation. In the 157 years since, it’s been a constant sentry over the St. Lawrence and Northumberland Strait.
