Swift Current to Saskatoon
Saskatchewan | 276km
Swift Current is one of the sunniest places in Canada, with 2,374 hours of sunshine every year – making this city of 17,000 the perfect spot to start your Saskatchewan journey on two wheels. Head north along Highway 4 through the open spaces of Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park.
Take a break on the shore of the Saskatchewan River to tour the 1800s-built Goodwin House before traversing the first historic crossing point on the South Saskatchewan River. Ride on through vast open grasslands to Kyle, where you can peek at a concrete woolly mammoth and see castings of the mammoth bones uncovered here in 1964 at the Kyle & District Museum.
At Rosetown, head east on Highway 7. Pause for a photo of the old grain elevator at Tessier before rolling on into Saskatoon and grabbing a River Bank Frank and Italian soda at Saskatoon Bus Stop Refreshments.
A ride through bygone days
In Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park, watch for teepee rings, cairns, cart ruts, homestead remnants, and survey markers. These artifacts mark the history of travel at this point across the Saskatchewan River for hundreds of years.
