St. John’s to Burin

Newfoundland and Labrador | 313 km

Begin your ride at Rugged Rock Harley-Davidson in Mount Pearl in the Waterford Valley. Ride along the Trans Canada Highway through the boreal forest of Butter Pot Provincial Park and past an extensive series of ponds.

At Goobies, take the 210 down into the Burin Peninsula, known as “The Boot” because of its unique shape.

As you travel south, you’ll ride through areas of exposed bedrock and heath-covered barrens spotted with massive boulders left behind from retreating glaciers 10,000 years ago. Keep your eyes peeled for the caribou that feed on the low-growing plants here.

After riding through several scenic small towns, pause at the Mortier Bay Lookout for a view over one of the largest ice-free harbours in eastern North America, a shipbuilding hub for more than 400 years.

Carry on through Marystown to end your ride in the coastal community of Burin.

Wet Your Whistle
This route ends at Smugglers Cove, where you can have a good meal at Tom’s Roadhouse and explore the old west Frontier Town.
