Qu’Appelle Valley Loop

This route starting at Prairie Harley-Davidson is a favourite for the Regina HOG® Chapter when time is short, but if you’re not in a rush you can easily stretch it out with photo stops as you ride through two very scenic provincial parks.
Head northeast out of town and make your way towards Echo Lake. Follow the lake’s north shore toward Fort Qu’Appelle, founded in 1864 as a trading post for the Hudson’s Bay Company. Continue along Mission Lake, pausing in Lebret to admire the 1865-built Sacred Heart Church and walk up to the hilltop chapel for outstanding views.
Carry on along the shores of Katepwa Lake. Katepwa Beach’s waterfront picnic tables are a lovely spot to stop for lunch. Then head south towards the town of Indian Head, where you’ll pass Saskatchewan’s oldest round stone barn, built in 1882. Loop back towards Regina to complete your ride.
History lesson
History buffs should plan a little extra time to stop at the museums in Fort Qu’Appelle and Lebret. Both showcase Indigenous artifacts and historic items from early farming communities. The Fort Qu’Appelle Museum also has historic items from the North West Mounted Police, while the Lebret Museum’s collection includes Louis Riel’s sugar bowl.
