Destination Challenges: A New Benefit for HOG Canada Members

Lifetime HOG® rider sets out to complete all 10 challenges as the program launches nationwide

By Mark Keating

After nearly four years contributing to the HOG® Canada newsletter, I’ve been fortunate to gain insight into new programs launching in other parts of the world — and, occasionally, advance notice of what might be coming to Canada.

This year, one of the programs I’ve most admired south of the border is making its way north.

As a long-distance rider, one of my ongoing challenges has been finding fresh motivation to ride roads that have become familiar over time. I’ve crossed Canada coast to coast more than once and spent countless weeks in the saddle in every region of the country. While there are still corners left to explore, each year that list grows shorter.

Being an active member of the Iron Butt Association has helped keep the spark alive. Their catalogue of rides — and the occasional Canadian adaptation — has provided structure and motivation. But even there, with time, the list of “undone” rides inevitably shrinks.

10 Destination Challenges for 2026

That’s why I’m genuinely excited to see HOG Destination Challenges joining the Canadian Ride 365 program for 2026.

In short, 10 designated rides — one in each province — have been carefully designed by the Canadian HOG® Regional Directors who know their regions best. HOG members who complete a ride, capture a photo at a specific location, and submit it will earn a commemorative challenge coin for that destination. Complete all 10, and you’ll have a full set — along with the satisfaction of riding Canada one challenge at a time.

When I learned that this program is coming to Canada, I didn’t hesitate. I told the team I wanted to be the first rider to complete all 10 challenges — and to document the journey along the way to help showcase the program to fellow HOG members.

I want this initiative to succeed. Not only so it becomes a lasting part of the HOG Canada experience, but because it offers something powerful: a reason to ride. Sometimes that’s all it takes.

Join the Ride

As part of my commitment, I’ll be sharing my planned ride schedule with HOG leadership and inviting Regional Directors (and local HOG Chapters) to join me on the rides they helped design. Wherever possible, these rides will also be promoted locally so members can participate together.

Throughout the summer, I’ll be sharing updates and stories through follow-up HOG newsletter articles, highlighting standout moments from each destination challenge. Along the way, I expect to log plenty of miles — and make a few new friends.

If you’re interested in joining the fun, connect with your HOG Chapter leadership. More details will be shared with chapters in the coming weeks. Or simply choose a destination, throw a leg over your bike, and ride.

Either way, you’ll earn a coin — and enjoy a great day on the road.

Did you notice the check-in locations in the 2026 HOG Benefits Guide? Each province has one of the 10 official Destination Challenge ride locations. Note: you can also find the rides in the H-D Ride Planner or scan the QR code for each ride in the guide, linked above.
