Halifax to Antigonish via Sherbrooke Village

Nova Scotia | 266km

This twisty ride follows Nova Scotia’s rugged Eastern Shore from Halifax to Sherbrooke Village before turning inland up to Antigonish.

Start your day with a visit to Privateers Harley-Davidson before riding across Halifax Harbour and through Dartmouth. From here, it’s sandy beaches and fishing towns as far as you can see as the road hugs the coast. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to stop for a photo or a bite to eat.

Plan to stop at Sherbrooke Village, Nova Scotia’s largest provincial museum. Located on the St. Mary’s River, the charming attraction boasts more than 80 heritage buildings from the mid-1800s, and comes alive through interpreters costumed in period dress.

Then you’ll cut north to Antigonish and find yourself on the Northumberland Shore. Check out the Cape George Point Lighthouse for views over St. George’s Bay, or tuck into pizza beloved by celebrities and St. FX university students alike at The Wheel.

Great Scot!
Known as the “Highland Heart of Nova Scotia,” Antigonish has a rich Gaelic history and is home to the longest running Highland Games in North America. The 159th Antigonish Highland Games take place July 7–14, 2024.
